Headlight washer nozzles are precision components integrating spray channels, atomisation structures and sealing assemblies. Typically mounted within the front bumper or headlight assembly, they connect via pipework to the washer fluid reservoir and high-pressure pump. Upon activation of the wash function, the nozzle receives pressurised fluid, projecting it onto the headlight lens surface at a preset angle and pressure. This facilitates cleaning in conjunction with the windscreen wipers (or headlight wiper blades on certain models).
Nozzle fails to spray
Causes:
- 1. Washer fluid reservoir is empty
- 2. Blocked/leaking hoses
- 3. Washer pump malfunction
- 4. Nozzle or spray head clogged
Solutions:
- 1. Refill with dedicated washer fluid
- 2. Inspect hose connections; clear blockages using compressed air
- 3. Test washer pump voltage; replace if faulty
- 4. Clear nozzle using a fine needle (do not use wire to avoid enlarging the orifice)
