The intake pressure sensor is central to engine condition monitoring. Without this component, the ECU cannot precisely control the air-fuel ratio, leading to engine malfunctions such as power loss and soaring fuel consumption.
✅ Primary Function: Precisely detects intake pressure to calculate air intake volume
Continuously monitors absolute pressure/vacuum within the intake manifold (range 0-300kPa), converting pressure variations into 0-5V voltage signals/digital signals. The ECU uses this data to calculate actual engine air intake volume, precisely matching fuel injection quantities to maintain the air-fuel ratio at the optimal combustion state of 14.7:1.
✅ Core Control Function: Adjusts ignition timing to prevent knocking and power loss
The ECU automatically modulates ignition advance based on intake pressure:
- Reduces advance during high intake pressure (heavy load/acceleration) to prevent engine knocking
- Increases advance during low intake pressure (idle/light load) to enhance combustion efficiency and prevent power loss.
